taylor & Dylan - a common ground chicago wedding
“Oh Agnes, won’t you go with me? We’ll be married in style. And we’ll cross Lake Michigan so blue and so wild”. - lyrics from the song“Lovely Agnes” by Sally Rogers.
My dad used to sing that song to my little sister and I when we were little (and it was every bit as agonizing and mortifying as you would imagine), but for some reason that beautiful (when not performed by my father (sorry, Dad!)) song kept trilling through my mind throughout the duration of Taylor and Dylan’s beautiful wedding day.
So we didn’t exactly cross Lake Michigan, but it was there and it was blue and so very wild in honor of Dylan and Taylor’s beautiful, intimate lakeside wedding last October.
Taylor and Dylan tied the knot in a beautiful old building that doubles as a piece of Chicago history along the banks of Lake Michigan one windy and atmospheric Autumn day.
After exchanging incredibly sweet vows and making things “official”, we were able to grab a few photos along the lake before heading to the always-super-cool Uncommon Ground in Chicago’s north side.
One of my favorite parts of weddings are the speeches during the reception. I love listening to those who know the couple best speak on their behalf . You learn so much about them, both as a couple and as individuals. For example, both of these kids are CRAZY smart. Valedictorians, extremely educated science/physics/engineering types (seriously. Mad props to anyone who excels in these terrifying (to me) fields!), and they also just so happen to be kind, funny and completely smitten with each other. Oh, yes. Their wedding day was simply a joy to capture.
A huge congrats to this lovely couple on beginning the next chapter of their lives together. I know their future is going to be so very bright and so very full of love. It was an honor to capture this new beginning <3.
