Anyone else here grow up watching the 90’s version of Father of the Bride over and over and over again?! The score, the endearing Annie Banks-McKenzie and Steve Martin’s beautiful portrayal of a father who loves his child so much and is terrified of losing her to marriage and adulthood and that never ending tidal wave we call “time”. This movie has everything I love about weddings all rolled up into a 90 minute joy ride of hilarity and “all the feels” , as the kids say today.
And the wedding - Annie opts to get married at her parent’s beautiful home which just makes the whole thing that much sweeter.
So I guess it’s safe to say that I’ve been in love with “at home” weddings for…..oh……25 years which is why I was SO excited when Brea initially reached out to me about capturing her and Ernie’s boho/tent/garden wedding at her sister’s lovely home in Northwest Indiana.
Totally speaking my language here, Brea!
Brea and Ernie are truly a wonderful couple. Quiet, sweet, kind, hilarious and obviously absolutely enamored with each other in that slow-burning, let’s-go-the-distance kind of way that made their wedding day an absolute joy to be a part of. They’ve known each other forever and their shared history gives their love story that much more gravitas.
The boho, DIY details were amazing and Brea’s flowers were gorgeous. Not only featured in my own blog post Chicago Wedding Flower Bouquet Inspiration but one of the photos I took of Brea’s bouquet is going to be featured in Slow Flowers, a publication that focuses on florists, studio designers, wedding and event planners who are committed to using American grown flowers which is super exciting! And so deserved. Florist Laura of Sunnyside Drive Flowers truly outdid herself in bringing the bride’s boho, rustic, relaxed elegant feel to life. Chicagoland is lucky to have her!
Despite the rain chasing the ceremony under cover at the last minute, the sun burst out just as Brea and Ernie said their “I do’s” and the revelry commenced! Scroll down to relive the darn thing with me, won’t you?! Their 10 minute portrait session was one of my all-time favorites from last season. They’re gorgeous!
Congrats to this stellar couple - thank you for allowing me to capture your amazing day!
