I feel like these two and I went through some kind of profound experience together, one that makes you stronger and ultimately brings you so much closer together. Please, allow me to explain!
I met this beautiful couple in Chicago’s Lincoln Park outside of Cafe Brauer one perfect spring day. We had a lovely time snapping portraits near the Lincoln Park Zoo and, of course, the iconic Honeycomb sculpture that offers a stunning view of the Hancock building.
Then came time to go to location two to grab portraits with the city’s stunning skyline as a back drop. Blanca and Jaihr, ever the best of sports, changed into their more formal outfit choice and all of a sudden……it started raining. No, pouring. No, for even that doesn’t describe the true nature of this downpour. The sky was falling. And falling. And falling (despite the almost 0% chance of rain that day!). When given the option, we unanimously agreed to reschedule part two the next time I was taking skyline portraits so we wouldn’t be drenched and swept out to sea (well, ya know, Lake Michigan).
We rescheduled for a day that was completely fogged over. Alright, let’s try a later date!
That day came amidst storms that wouldn’t let us finally get these shots either.
And rinse, and repeat. It was like Groundhog Day. I lost track of how many times we rescheduled and how many times our hopes and plans were thwarted!
But finally. FINALLY (I mean, probably a full two months later) we were victorious! On a beautiful July morning, we met at the Planetarium and able to make this beautiful couple’s vision a reality!
They are the definition of grace, patience and are just so terribly lovely all around (I mean, scroll on down to see for yourself!
