Okay. Stop. The. BUS people.
Caitlin and Trevor’s Oak Hill Farm wedding had everything one could want. Endless summer blooms arranged by the incomparable Clara Joyce Flowers, an enormous sunflower field in full bloom, stunning vistas of Galena-country’s rolling hills, hidden forest trails waiting to be discovered, donkeys, kittens, 19th century schoolhouses, a soaring reception space. And donkeys. Did I mention the donkeys?!
Chicago-based Caitlin and Trevor met while working in the film industry and they opted to begin their married life together a quick 2.5 hours west at Oak Hill Farm and I fell in love with the place immediately.
From the moment you arrived at the farm, you knew this was going to be a special day, indeed.
Both being filmmakers, their love of storytelling was evident throughout the day. Caitlin, an art department pro, incoorporated stunning little details at every turn. From home-dried flower petals for tossing as they walked back down the aisle to antique cars decked out with more zinnias than I’ve ever seen in one place, the overall effect was truly stunning.
As guests made their way to the wooded ceremony, they were greeted by colorful florals that added pops of striking color against the late-summer greens of the forest.
The two exchanged their very personal and heartfelt vows in front of their loved ones and I spied many a misty eye as they said their “I do’s” and made their triumphant march down the aisle as spouses.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour on the lawn, complete with lawn games and DONKEYS roaming the grounds. They were the coolest, sweetest wedding crashers I’ve ever seen.
The reception space was GORGEOUS. I mean, GOREOUS and the revelry continued long into the night.
A perfect golden hour mini-portrait session in the sunflowers, heartfelt speeches an amazing live band and an epic sparkler send-off truly had this Chicago-based destination wedding photographer happily running around like a lunatic all day long. There was SO much beauty to capture and SO much love to celebrate.
Endlessly grateful that these two trusted me to capture what was truly an unforgettable wedding day.
p.s. Already DYING to return to Oak Hill Farm! Any takers?!
Overall, Caitlin and Trevor’s Oak Hill Farm wedding was a beautiful and memorable celebration of love. The rustic but elegant setting, combined with the colorful florals and personal touches, made for a truly special day.
