As a Chicago based wedding, engagement and portrait photographer, I am essentially in the business of love and excitement and all of those other amazing things that make life so sweet.

When Dave contacted me about capturing his surprise proposal to his beautiful girlfriend, Kaycee, I was all about it. When he told me he was going to pop the question in front of Jeni’s Ice Cream Shoppe on Southport Avenue where they had their very first date I just about lost my mind with excitement!

Those who know me well know that I’m a huge cheese ball, exceedingly nostalgic and, despite hauling around a healthy dose of sarcasm, a true romantic at heart.

Crouching behind a bush waiting for Dave and Kaycee to round the corner to our predetermined “question popping spot”, my heart was pounding.

Lo and behold, the beautiful couple appeared, Dave dropped to one knee and Kaycee’s jaw absolutely dropped when he pulled out the most beautiful diamond ring. She clearly had NO idea this was about to happen and the emotion was incredibly, incredibly powerful to capture.
