Rain, rain, go away.

That’s everyone’s knee jerk reaction when the weather forecast is less than ideal when planning on heading outdoors for a photoshoot.

And I totally get it. Rain can complicate things and dares to mess with your perfectly applied make-up and beautifully styled hair. But I promise, promise, promise you that all is not lost when rain is on the radar! All you need are a few light-friendly umbrellas and a photographer up for the challenge and the results can be Ryan-Gosling-confessing-his-love-for-you-in-a-rainstorm romantic!

Take this gorgeous couple, for instance. Jill and Mike are honest-to-Betsy just about the sweetest people ever (I know I say that all the time but hey! I can’t complain about working with so many incredible couples :-). From their very first date to their epic proposal (seriously – well done, Mike!), these two are so obviously smitten and excited to marry each other next November that it would have been a challenge NOT to get great photos of them, rain or shine.

The wind was CRAZY during the first half of their session, so we popped into Navy Pier’s Crystal Garden and the Chicago Cultural Center to get some indoor photos before braving the outdoors! Luckily, the gusts had died down dramatically and these two braved the elements with me as we headed to the Chicago Riverwalk.
